RAMPF Group opens production centre for mineral casting in China

Accompanied by loud fireworks, the RAMPF Group from Grafenberg officially opened its first production centre today in Taicang, China, 50 kilometres from Shanghai. About one million euros have been invested by the company in the new site, which operates under the name RAMPF (Taicang) Co., Ltd. Production of mineral casting under the brand EPUCRET will start there for the Asiatic market from March 2008.

Following sites in the USA and Japan, the RAMPF Group presented its new factory in China to the public today after less than one year in preparation. The managing directors of the RAMPF Group, Rudolf, Matthias and Michael Rampf, symbolically performed the “ribbon cutting” ceremony, together with local representatives of the Taicang development zone. After the red ribbon had been cut, a tour was given of the 3,200 square metre manufacturing plant.

RAMPF (Taicang) Co., Ltd. will start producing mineral casting material from the company EPUCRET Mineralgusstechnik for customers in Asia and, of course, China. The conditions are favourable. Well-trained specialist staff and an optimal infrastructure all speak in favour of Taicang in the Jiangsu province. In the past few months, a mineral casting production plant has been built there based on a German model. The yearly capacity will be several thousand tons. In this way, the RAMPF Group will be able to ensure supply to customers in whole of Asia for its member company EPUCRET. At present, the site has five employees. By the end of 2008, the managing director Martin Neumann wants to employ about 25 persons in Taicang - most of them in production.

The target group of the new subsidiary includes international machine construction companies with production sites in China, as well as Chinese enterprises. "We want to be close to our customers. The location is predestined for this. Taicang is centrally located on the east coast of China, in the middle in the Jangtse delta", Martin Neumann explained. The development and construction of machine frames and their moulds will remain with EPUCRET in Germany. In this way, those responsible wish to avoid the risk of product counterfeiting. At the same time, RAMPF Taicang will be able to concentrate solely on production and selling. The subsidiary obtains over 90 per cent of the necessary components and materials for mineral casting from China. “Thanks to the high degree of localization, costs as well as time can, of course, be saved for transportation, custom tariffs and production. A substantial advantage for us and our customers", underlined the managing director for China.
However, the subsidiary in China will not have any ramifications or mean production relocation to save on labour costs for the EPUCRET site in Wangen near Göppingen - this the entrepreneurial family Rampf will vouch for. EPUCRET is just extending its capacity in Germany with an investment of 2.5 million euros.
